On Monday 22nd
September 2014 I gave a brief research talk, `Parenting style and childhood adversity as antecedents of antisocial behaviour’,
at
the Newham Centre of Mental Health, which is part of the Unit for
Social and Community Psychiatry at Newham University Hospital. The talk
was one of 12 presented along the theme of `Mental
Health Research – conducted and completed in Newham’. The event was attended by about 30 people. It was hosted by Professor Stefan Priebe who is Director
of the Unit.
As a result of this talk, I have been invited to speak on the 5th
November 2014 about my research on rebelliousness by the CEO of
School-Home Support (SHS), Jan Tallis, an organisation which
co-ordinates 76 practitioners working in 82 schools with children and
families to `break
the cycle of poor attendance, low attainment, antisocial behaviour, crime, low paid or no job, generation after generation’. SHS is based in Aldgate, east
London. For more information about SHS please see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5B6DBSibZg&feature=plcp
. I will be speaking to in the region of 15-20 of the SHS staff at one of their regular communications events.
